The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) administers a music exam twice per year and theory exam thrice per year. Click here to learn more about the ABRSM
Upbeat Music hosts the practical exams that take place in the spring and fall and provides lessons specifically designed by teachers who completed the exams themselves as students. Students interested in participating in the ABRSM graded exams need to register for 45 minute lessons for grades 1 - 4, or 60 minute lessons for grades 5 - 8. If you don’t know which grade is appropriate for you, your teacher will decide which grade will suit you once lessons begin, but for registration purposes you can choose either 45 or 60 minutes as your lesson length and adjustments can be made if needed.
As an ABRSM student you will also learn music theory as part of the curriculum. Music theory may be studied in a separate private lesson if you are looking for a more focused and comprehensive experience.
ABRSM lessons are available for piano, classical guitar, violin, and alto saxophone.
